South Side Students are Gearing Up for College!
Each classroom at South Side has "adopted" a college or university as a part of the No Excuses University national initiative to promote college-readiness, starting at the elementary level. Classrooms have decorated rooms and lockers, learned fight songs, and contacted their college or university to begin developing a partnership.
Students in Mrs. Stout's class (above) received a box of t-shirts and other items from the Indiana University Alumni Association. Carlee Holsinger, an EN graduate and IPFW student, talked to Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Becker's class (below) about college. She answered many questions the students had about college and stressed the importance of learning to read and getting good grades.
